Happy to tell you that I will talk at Norcon in Oslo this weekend. This is my first performance as author and editor in Norway.
The Norcon is the Norwegian Convention of Science Fiction and Fantasy, which has run since 1975. It is the largest festival for science fiction in Norway, which brings in fandom, academics and enthusiasts from across genres and ages. This year’s event is in association with Torshovtheatret’s theatre production of George Orwell’s 1984.
On Sunday 26th I will talk (in English) about my own writing and apocalypse/post apocalypse, and how to survive it: We’re Doomed! Writing The End of the World.
I will also, as the editor of the Fox Spirit Books of monsters series, have a panel conversation on Saturday with Erling Sandmo (in Norwegian). Erling Sandmo is professor in history at the University of Oslo and has recently studied sea maps from 15-1900 century and the sea monsters. He has this year written a beautiful little book (Uhyrlig) about these sea monsters where he (amongst many other things) reflects about what is monstrous and not. The book is hopefully out in English soon. Erling is an amazing personality with a great mind and I am quite chuffed to be able to speak with him about monsters, who they are and what role they play. I am really looking forward to it.
I will be selling and signing books both days, also for the first time in Norway.
Would love to see you there!
